Hotel Synopsis

The below text is a full description of the under development property, giving all the details regarding the hotel's story, concept, operation, and experiences, that will provide to its guests.

Located in Chora of Sfakia, just above Vrysi beach, this new hotel will be a completely fresh and differentiated proposal to stay in the area, in harmony of course with the local character of Sfakia but also the characteristics of the area’s visitors.

Sfakia is an area of incredible natural beauty and wealth, but Chora Sfakia is not properly developed yet, touristic wise. The property, will offer an upgraded accommodation proposal, without introducing a high-end luxury experience, which would be irrelevant to the character of the settlement.

The concept of this new hotel is focused on the essence of "time slows down". We are talking about a hotel in which nothing is hasty or stressful, but everything has been set out to allow travelers to fully relax and enjoy themselves.

Even though it is a small hotel  it will be characterized as micro-resort, due to its facilities. The concept of micro refers both to the small scale that each facility will develop, and to the 'microcosm' we want to create within the property, with amenities and comforts that will offer the customer reasons to spend more time inside the hotel. Of course, in any case, the customer experience will be interconnected with the destination, while the upgraded concierge service will give visitors all the necessary information about what to do in the wider area.

The traditional Cretan architecture and the architecture of the neighboring countries of North Africa,especially Morocco, will be an inspiration for the overall design of the property. Of course, in any case the end result will be fresh and modern,despite the influences from the local culture.

Hotel Typology

The first stage of our Services, which includes the Research & the Typology Study, helped the Hotel Owners take their final decisions regarding the hotel's Typology (type of property, room types, grounds, etc) and its main Features and Facilities, aiming to increase the hotel's ADR as well as its sales potentials from its various departments and services.

Hotel Concept Development

During the Hotel Concept Development process, we specified the main idea and the narrative of the new hotel, which will allow it to stand out from the competition. At the same time, we specified all the new hotel's experiences, services, and operation model, in order to help the architectural and design teams to capture all the requirements for its final design.

Hotel Branding & Implementation

In order to have a fuller image of the Concept, we have created an initial branding for the new hotel that captures its feel and essence, and which must be taken into account during the design process. At the same time, we presented a series of indicative applications and implementations of the branding, in order to convey in a more tangible way the feeling that will be exuded during the hotel's visual communication.

Name Description

The Cretan word "epae" (in cretan dialect "επαέ" means "here" ) becomes the name of the hotel, teaching its importance to the public. The word can be combined in many ways: e.g.
eΠaé we love taking care of you
eΠaé you ‘ll feel more relaxed than ever
eΠaé time slows down!

Logo Description

In this particular hotel we wanted to create a logo with a linear symbol but with a sense of 'hand-painted', that makes it much more personal and direct. We would use a more 'handwritten' font, but always legible.

Implementation Examples

Project Partners

For the completion of the project, Destsetters collaborates with the Architectural and Design teams, in the context of the thorough application of the concept to the overall experience, the correct specification of the anticipated operational needs, and the new hotel's commercial potentials. The Architectural & Design teams are selected by the investors/project owners and play an active part in the overall decisions regarding the development of the new property.
